Rail work starts with the first question about any line: is the route justified, and where should it run? Rahyaft carries out preliminary and final route justification studies, studies for extending lines and their structures, studies of rail technology and equipment, and architectural and structural design. Rail studies are tied closely to transport planning, because a new line has to fit the region's passenger and freight network.
Clients include municipalities and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Examples include the feasibility studies of train systems for Urmia, carried out with the comprehensive transport studies of the city's master plan; the logistics studies of Shahid Rajaee Port, which evaluated proposed new road and rail connections; and the review of Karaj's urban rail lines for Karaj Municipality.
