Passive defence means reducing the vulnerability of infrastructure and keeping it working through threats and emergencies, by non-military means. Rahyaft applies these principles to transport infrastructure and takes the work through successive stages: passive defence feasibility and justification studies, conceptual design, basic design and detailed design. The aim is resilient infrastructure that keeps working in an emergency, or returns to service sooner.
The service is for bodies that build or operate transport infrastructure and need to build safety, risk reduction and passive defence into their schemes. The feasibility stage shows which parts of the infrastructure are critical and which measures are justified; conceptual and basic design shape the solutions, and detailed design turns them into drawings and specifications that can be built.
